People say hardware wallets are safest, as it can be kept separately from the computer (that generate private keys without being online).

I beg to differ. What if the hardware suddenly stopped working? (well, anything can malfunction). Wouldn’t you be dead? All can be lost.

      Someone please enlighten me.

First to post a reply here! 🙂

I guess having a hardware wallet is the best bet as a safe way to store your bitcoins. Don’t think it is wise to leave it on the crypto exchanges (due to various hacking even on reputable ones). Online wallet also have a higher risk of stealing by others.

Hardware wallets can also be altered and set up by seller so they can steal your funds. I do not know how they do these but guess they have a way.

I think in the end it is all about doing of due diligence in getting a hardware wallet. Check through reviews and get those from big, reputable sources.
